Girls Select 14: Day Two Recap

The second day of action at the Select 14 camp opened on July 22 with a 3-2 win by Team Gold over Team Green. Team Green’s Olivia Finocchiaro opened the game’s scoring in the first period, while Team Gold’s Shana Cole tied the game at 1-1 with a first period goal. In the second period, Team Green took a 2-1 lead early in the second period with a marker by Anne Berry. Team Gold battled back in the second period with a goal by Savannah Norcross and then won it in the OT period with the game winner by Abby Latorella. Team Gold’s Maddox Angerhofer had 24 saves in the game.

In game two, Team White and Team Blue skated to a 1-1 tie. Team White broke the ice in the second period with a goal by Briland Laycock to earn a 1-0 lead. In the OT session, Abigail Boreen posted an unassisted goal for Team Blue that made the final 1-1. Team White’s goalie pair of Phoebe Autio and Abigail Levy combined for 20 saves, while Team Blue’s goalies Taylor Stadelli and Gwyneth Philips had 32 saves in the game.

The day was capped by a 3-1 win by Team Red over Team Black. Malia Leveson opened the game’s scoring in the first period with Team Black’s lone goal. Team Red rallied with first period markers by Emma Kee and Kaitlyn RipponAllyson Simpson iced the game for Team Red with an empty net goal late in the second period. Madelyn Morgan and Caroline Kukas shared netminding duties for Team Red and combined for 20 saves in the contest.
