Girls Select U18: Day Four Recap

The 2014 USA Hockey Girls’ Select 18 Player Development Camp concluded on July 15 with a pair of all-star contests at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on the campus of St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minn. The final day of play opened with a 3-1 victory by the All-Star Blue squad over the All-Star White squad.  

The Blue All-Stars opened the scoring in the first period with a marker by Ryan Little. Team White’s Valerie Turgeon evened the score at 1-1 before Team Blue’s Slyvia Wallin scored the game winner in the closing seconds of the first period.  

The final goal was scored by Team Blue’s Morgan Crane in the second period.  Team Blue’s goalie tandem of Katie Burt and Elizabeth Auby combined for 24 saves in the game.

The camp was completed by a 4-0 victory by the All-Star Stripes squad over the All-Star Red team. The Stripes’ Samantha Davis posted the game winner in the first period, while teammates Natalie SnograssAudrey Warner and Alex Woken all charted second period goals to make the final 4-0. In the nets, Brittany Bugalski and Sonjia Shelly combined for 22 saves and the shutout win for the Stripes.

USA Hockey will return to St. Cloud State and Herb Brooks National Hockey Center next week for the Girls’ Select 14 and Girls’ Select 15 Player Development Camps.  For complete information on any of the USA Hockey Player Development Camps, please visit www.USAHockey.com.
