Girls Select U15: Day 3 Recap

The 2013 USA Hockey Select U15 Player Development Camp completed its third day of games at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud on July 24. In the first game, Team Black made a comeback in the second for a 3-1 victory over Team Grey. Laura Lundblad scored Team Grey’s only goal today late in the first period with an assist from Caitlin Schneider. Team Black’s Sydney Sorkin led her squad, scoring two goals in the second period. Rebecca Dutton and McKenna Hulslander of Team Black blocked 18 shots, while Team Grey’s Elizabeth Auby and Madelynne Smith posted 15 saves.

 

In the day’s second game, Team Green scored a 4-3 win over Team Gold.  Katherine Spengler scored a Team Gold power-play goal at the start of the first period. Shea Nelson scored Team Green’s final goal of the game during the beginning of the second period.  Both Team Gold’s Adysen Cohen and Jacqueline Rogers, and Team Green’s Heather King blocked 23 shots apiece today.

 

The final game today was an exciting, action-packed game that resulted in a 6-4 victory for Team Blue over Team Red. A total of 12 penalties were called during today’s game, and Jordan Jackson of Team Red seized one of these opportunities to score a power-play goal at the end of the second period.  Team Blue’s highest-scoring player was Andrea Renner, who coined the hat trick-plus with three goals and one assist in the contest. Jenna Brenneman and Kai-Lilly Karpman of Team Red had 21 saves, and Team Blue’s Sydney Scobee and Mary Turner blocked 26, giving them the most saves in camp play on July 24.
