Girls Select U14: Day 2 Recap

The 2013 USA Hockey Select U14 Player Development Camp had its second day of games at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn., on July 23.  In the first game of the day, Team Green managed to net a 4-2 victory over Team Gold.  Team Gold’s Anna Promersberger and Cayla Barnes scored their teams two goals today, both coming in the first period. Katie Cipra led Team Green with two goals. Lindsay Browning and Lauren Rippy blocked 16 shots for Team Gold, while Danielle Marquez and Jennifer Gregg made 13 saves for Team Green.

In the second game, Team White dropped a 4-0 decision against Team Blue. Sharon Frankle scored an even strength and power-play goal in the second period for Team Blue. Team White’s Hayley Kliczko and Kailee Medved blocked 19 total shots, which was the most total shots blocked by any team today, and Team Blue’s Lynsey Wallace and Elizabeth Hanson blocked a commendable 13 shots.

In the last game of the day, Team Black gained a 3-1 win over Team Red. Giana Savastano scored Team Red’s lone goal during the second period. Madeline Posick scored the game’s final goal with an unassisted marker at the end of the second period. Kate Winstanley and Alexa Matses of Team Red blocked an impressive 13 shots, while Team Black’s Cameron Leonard and Grace Dexter combined for nine saves.
