Girls Select U15: Day 2 Recap

The 2013 USA Hockey Select U15 Player Development Camp had its second day of games at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn., on July 23.  In the first game of the day, Team Grey scored a 3-3 tie against Team Red. Team Red’s Carly Bullock scored a power-play goal in the first period, and Team Grey’s Caitlin Schneider scored a shorthanded goal at the end of the first. Team Red’s goalie duo of Kai-Lilly Karpman and Jenna Brenneman blocked 25 shots today, with Brenneman making an impressive 18 saves.  Team Grey’s goalies, Madelynne Smith and Elizabeth Auby, blocked 15 shots in this game.

In game two, Team Green rolled to a 4-1 win over Team Black. Shea Nelson, who scored two goals in the first period, led team Green, while Amanda Riesman scored Team Black’s lone goal. McKenna Hulslander and Rebecca Dutton of Team Black blocked 20 shots today, while Bailey Lewczyk and Heather King of Team Gold blocked 11.

In the final game, Team Gold brought home a 3-1 victory over Team Blue. Andrea Renner scored Blue’s only goal of the day, which came in the first period, while Jane Ann Drill of Team Gold netted a power-play goal at the end of the first. Team Blue’s Mary Turner and Sydney Scobee blocked 26 shots. Team Gold’s Jacqueline Rogers and Adysen Cohen also posted 22 saves in the game.
