The 2013 USA Hockey Select U14 Player Development Camp opened play at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud on July 22. In the first game of the day, Team Black scored a 2-1 victory over Team Green. Team Green’s Janey Sandoval scored her team’s only goal uring the first period with assists by Gillis Frechette and Marielle McHale. Team Blue’s Delaney Drake scored an unassisted goal at the end of the first period, and Lillian Holmes gave Team Blue the winning goal early in the second period with assists by Clair DeGeorge and Madeline Fouts. Cameron Leonard single handedly had 14 saves for Team Black, while Team Green’s Jennifer Gregg and Danielle Marquez had a total of 36 saves..The second game saw Team Red gain a 4-2 win over Team White. Team Red was led by Veronika Pettey and Valerie Caldwell, who each scored two goals, and Team White’s Madison Walker and Alix MacKillop scored a point a piece for their team. Team Red’s goalie duo of Alexa Matses and Kate Winstanley, and Team White’s goalie duo, Kailee Medved, and Hayley Kliczko, each combined for 15 saves in the game…In the day’s final game Team Gold hit the winning standard with a 3-2 victory over Team Blue. Julia Nearis led Team Gold with two goals today, while Team Blue’s Emma Peterson and Brittyn Fleming managed to net one point apiece today. Team Blue goalies Elizabeth Hanson and Lynsey Wallace came together for a combined total of 24 saves, while Team Gold’s Lauren Rippy and Lindsay Browning blocked a total of 15 shots in the game.
