NHL Bloodlines: Purple's No. 12, Kiefer Bellows, is the son of long-time NHL forward Brian Bellows.Over his lengthy career, the elder Bellows skated in 1,188 games, recording 485 goals and 537 assists for a total of 1,022 points.Bellows spent 10 seasons with the Minnesota North Stars, but also had stints later in his playing days with the Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Washington Capitals.
Accolades Aplenty: Columbia coach, David Carle, is the younger brother of current Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Matt Carle.Like his older sibling, David was also an NHL draft pick (203rd overall in 2008 to Tampa Bay), however he was forced to retire that year due to a heart ailment.Upon receiving the news, the younger Carle immediately transitioned his passion for the game of hockey to a four-year assistant coaching position with the University of Denver Pioneers while attending the institution.Upon graduating in 2012, Carle received an offer for an assistant coaching job with the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL), a position that he currently holds.
