The 2013 USA Hockey Girls’ Select U18 Player Development Camp completed its second day of games on July 13 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
In one of the first games of the day, Team Red earned a 3-2 win over Team Green. The duo of Maliya Rodgers and Grace Bizal were the offensive force for Team Green as Rodgers had two goals that featured first assists from Bizal in the first period.Team Green’s goalies Samantha Smith and Katharyn Snyder made an impressive 33 saves over the course of the game.
Play continued with Team Grey and Team Gold skating to a 1-1 tie.In the first period, Hannah England scored Team Gold’s goal with an assist from Melissa Samoskevich.Team Grey’s Adrianna Rossini scored the final goal of the game in the second period, with helpers from Charly Dahlquist and Annika Zalewski.
Team Royal shut out Team Pink in a 2-0 game later in the morning.Team Royal’s goalies Kassi Abbott and Brittany Bugalski combined for 23 saves in the game.Justine Reyes scored both of Team Royal’s goals with assists by Brooke Ahbe on both goals.
Team Blue then beat Team Black, 3-0.Team Blue’s Victoria Sullivan started the scoring in the first period.Sullivan also assisted on the last goal of the game, scored by Victoria DeAngelis.Team Blue’s Shannon Ropp and Gabriella Switaj tallied 12 saves for the shutout.
Team White wrapped up the day with a 3-2 win over Team Purple.Amanda Conway of Team White scored the game-winner in the second period and assisted on a goal by Kasidy Anderson.BaileyLarson assisted on Team Purple’s first goal and also posted a goal in the third period for her squad. The Girls’ Select U18 Camp will continue at the HBNHC on July 14 with practices and then another round of games on July 15.The Camp All-Star Games are slated for the morning of July 16.
