Girls Select U18: Day Two Recap

The second day of games at the Girls’ Select 18 Player Development Camp started with a 3-1 victory by Team Gray over Team Black. Jacqueline Kaasa opened the scoring for Team Black with a first period goal. Team Gray replied with a first period marker by Brooke Baker and then charted the game winner in the second period with a goal by Maddie Mills. Team Gray completed the scoring in the OT session with a goal by Dana RasmussenShannon Ropp and Evdokia Castonguay combined for 21 saves in the game for Team Gray.

In game two, Team Royal scored two goals in the OT period to gain a 3-2 win over Team Gold. Danielle Brown and Carolyn Drowne each had goals for Team Royal in OT period. Team Gold’s Kenady Nevicosi also added a goal in the game’s OT session.

Team Red and Team White skated to a 2-2 tie in game three of the day. Team Red’s Taylor Wenczkowski and Morgan Morse scored goals in the second period before Team White’s Samantha Benoit and Andrea Renner scored goals in the OT period. Jenna Pleva and Elizabeth Auby combined for 32 saves in the game for Team White, while Sydney Scobee and Rebecca Dutton had 21 saves for Team Red.

Team Purple and Team Pink finished in a 3-3 tie in game four. Team Pink opened with first period goals by Paige Lewis and Alexis Mauermann. In the second period, Team Purple’s Elizabeth Gerace broke the shutout to make it 2-1. Team Pink’s Kate Piacenza pushed the score to 3-1 before Team Purple’s Haley Mack and Kendra Farole knotted the score with OT period goals.

In the final game of the day, Team Blue scored a 1-0 victory over Team Green. The lone goal was scored by Amanda Harris in the first period. The Team Blue goalie tandem of Jenna Brenneman and Gianna Meloni combined for 20 saves in the shutout win.
