Roster Update: Royal goaltender Dayton Rasmussen (No. 30) did not play on Thursday due to injury. Forest's No. 12, Cole Koepke, returned to the lineup after missing Tuesday's action.

NHL Bloodlines: Red's No. 11, Kiefer Bellows, is the son of long-time NHL forward Brian Bellows. Over his lengthy career, the elder Bellows skated in 1,188 games, recording 485 goals and 537 assists for a total of 1,022 points. Bellows spent 10 seasons with the Minnesota North Stars, but also had stints later in his playing days with the Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Washington Capitals.

Comeback Kids: Facing a 5-2 deficit early in the second half, Royal stormed back to bury three goals over a span of four minutes and eventually topped Grey 6-5 in a shootout. Michael Maloney (No. 17) netted a hat-trick for the victors and Henry Crone (No. 18) added a trio of assists. Collin Adams (No. 16) and Mitchell Mattson (No. 8) contributed a goal apiece in regulation, before Crone scored Royal's game-winning shootout goal. Club netminder, Brandon Bussi (No. 1) manned the crease for the full 50 minutes as well as the extra session.

Black also used a second-half rally to overcome Red by a score of 10-5.  After trailing 5-4 at the half, the winning squad lit the lamp six times and clamped-down defensively en route to clinching its first win of the week. Overall, 13-of-16 Black skaters tallied at least a point, led by Evan Wisocky's (No. 8) three goals and two assists, with Jon Russell (No. 12) registering two goals and two assists to follow close behind.

College Hockey Flourishing: A record 305 former NCAA players played in the NHL in 2013-14, making up 31% of the league. Nearly two-thirds of those (190) are Americans... Former NCAA players made up 56% of all NHL players 5’9” and shorter in 2013-14, and 50% of all players 6’6” and taller... Five of the top 10 goal scorers and four of the top seven rookie scorers in the NHL this year were former college players... In a study of first-round NHL draft picks from 2000-06, NCAA players had better odds of a successful NHL career (70%) than other players selected in the same time frame (57%).
