Girls Select U18: Day Three Recap

The 2013 USA Hockey Select U18 Player Development Camp completed its third day of games on Monday, July 15, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. In the first-round games, Team Royal and Team Gold skated to a 1-1 deadlock. Brooke Ahbe scored Team Royal’s lone goal and Jessica Dunne added the solo goal for Team Gold … In the other first-round game, Team Pink posted its first win of the camp with a 3-1 victory over Team Black.  Madison Sansone notched the game-winner for Team Pink with helpers from Nicole Schammel and Kenzie Prater in the second period … Team Blue’s Shannon Ropp and Gabriella Switaj tallied 26 saves in a 3-0 shutout of Team Green. McKenna Brand was the offensive leader for Team Blue with a goal and an assist in the game … Team Grey also coined a shutout with a 6-0 win over Team Purple. Taylor Wenczkowski had two goals and Baylee Wellhausen and Adriana Rossini had two assists apiece in the win for Team Grey.  The goalie pair of Mikaela Ditonto and Kyra Smith combined for 18 saves in the shutout win … The shutouts continued in the final game of the day with a 4-0 win for Team White over Team Red.  Amanda Conway carded two goals and one assist to pace Team White. Teammates Kenzie Kent and Kippen Keller also provided two assists apiece in the victory. Team White goalies Sonja Shelly and Brooke Wolejko had a total of 20 saves in the game.  The Girls Select U18 Player Development Camp will conclude with All-Star games on July 16 at the HBNHC.
